Soft Splinting with NRX® Strap
What is Soft Splinting?
Soft splinting is a one of the methods used for supporting painful, weak or unstable joint after injury, surgery or if the body part is affected by another condition causing pain, weakness or instability.
Unlike rigid splint, that might be necessary to completely immobilise a body part to allow healing, the soft splint is used to help with further rehabilitation and safer / more comfortable use of the affected limb.
What is NRX® Strap?
Our clinic uses unique concept of strapping invented and developed in Sweden by Thomas Eriksson of Mediroyal. We use special NRX® Strap made from new material based on CR-Neoprene.
The benefits of NRX® Strap splinting are:
- the support is made in the clinic by us specifically for your hand and injury, so you will walk away with a custom made brace without having to order an off-the shelf orthosis
- the material feels soft and very comfortable to wear
- it is perforated to allow ventilation of the skin
- provides a local heat insulation that can provide an increased range of motion of the joint, reduced pain and inflammation
- machine washable in 60 degrees for optimal hygiene and to maintain the elasticity and rebound of the material
-
the NRX® material provides a friction effect on the skin that provides an increased proprioception when applying it over a joint or a muscle
-
100% latex free
Off-the-shelf hand orthoses
Our Hand Therapy clinic also offers large variety of ready made supports where more structured or rigid support is needed. We are once again offering products of the Swedish company Mediroyal. We will suggest the most suitable orthosis for you, ensure you have the correct size and fitting. We will teach you how to put it on and off and advise you on when to wear it and how to look after it.
