Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage / MLD
MLD is a gentle skin-stretching massage aiming to remove excess lymphatic fluid from the affected area. Manual lymphatic massage specifically focuses on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid. Through the lymphatic massage the fluid is redirected from swollen areas to healthy lymphatic vessels and nodes.
Conditions where Manual Lymphatic Drainage can help include:
- lymphoedema (primary and secondary)
- lipoedema
- chronic venous insufficiency
- post- surgery swelling
- post- injury swelling
- post- cosmetic surgery recovery - tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation or breast reduction
