Spiral Stabilisation
What is Spiral Stabilisation?
The Spiral Stabilization method was invented by Doctor Richard Smíšek in 1979, and it continues to be developed and refined by him and his two daughters Kateřina and Zuzana. The Spiral Stabilization is a set of exercises to help improve the musculoskeletal system and restore its function. The exercises are performed with an elastic cord that helps strengthening the muscle corset, enhances endurance, and improves posture.
The Spiral Stabilization method helps with back pain, scoliosis, disc herniation, or after spinal surgery. It is suitable for all age groups, children from the age of five and also for pregnant women. In addition, it prevents the development of faulty posture and muscle imbalances. Top athletes use Spiral Stabilization to help them improve their sporting performance, recover faster after strain and, above all, achieve sporting success without damaging their health.
Use of Spinal Stabilisation for Treatment of disorders
The Spinal stabilisation method is very successfully used in treatment of:
Disorders of the spine:
- Herniation of an intervertebral disc
- Conditions after spinal operations
- Scoliosis
- Hyperlordosis & hyperkyphosis
- Spondylolisthesis
- Spinal stenosis
- Scheuermann’s disease
Disorders of the large joints
Disorders of gait coordination and stability
Disorders of the central nervous system – caused by disorders of the head posture, tension in the neck muscles and restricted blood supply
Prevention of disorders:
- of spine
- of large joints
- of gait stability
- of the central nervous system
- of the internal organs – heart, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urogenital system
- caused by sport
Conditioning, fitness, wellness
- Axis posture of the body
- Muscle balance
- Reciprocal inhibition of the muscles in motion (active inhibition)
- Sufficient range of motion
- Exercising movement patterns
- Muscle cooperation – exercising the muscle chains
- Developing muscle mass without pressure on the spine – healthy bodybuilding
Sport
- Faster running speed
- Rapid regeneration of the muscles after sports performance, eliminating trigger points and acid waste-products
- Effective use of the muscles in movement patterns rather than isolated strengthening
- The strength of muscles grows in cooperation with other muscles – potentiation of the muscle in muscle chains
- Rapid muscle contractions with a change in movement – protective function for the joints and spine
- Prevention in sport: Eliminating muscle imbalances, After-treatment following accidents and operations, Compensation of unilateral overloading in sport
What to expect during your Spiral Stabilisation session?
Initial training / 1st session:
1st session lasts 55-60 minutes and the treatment consists of an initial medical examination, where your medical records are filed, you will be assessed using the Spiral Stabilization method (standing, walking, spinal statodynamics), we might make photo documentation and an individualised rehabilitation plan will be proposed to you based on the assessment. You will learn basic exercises and their adjustments, so you can practice at home and prepare for follow-up sessions
Individual training / follow-up sessions:
Your instructor will teach you the exercises according to the Spiral Stabilization methodology, and they might also use some manual/hands on techniques according to this methodology if necessary.
Follow up sessions lasts 55 minutes.
The sessions are adjusted according to the needs of the patient and according to the diagnosis.
We are checking the treatment outcomes utilizing photo documentation and control images – X-ray, MRI, and CT, where available.
